Dil Bole Hadippa Movie Review
Dil bole Hadippa, another film from Yash Raj Films banner, is shot amidst Punjab’s field. This movie can be said to have a feeble inspiration from a Hollywood feature “She’s The Man”. The only difference is that the soccer gave of Hollywood flick has been replace by the most popular Indian game cricket. Alike other flicks under Yash Raj banner, this movie is also epitomizes patriotic sentiments.
The movie opens with Veera (Rani Mukherjee) scoring sixes throughout the over, just like a still in Bunty aur Babli.
Every year, on Independence Day, the village took part in a cricket match held between India and Pakistan contestants. After viewing Pakistan Team winning consecutively for years, The head of the team Vikramjit Singh (Anupam Kher) decides to call his son Rohan (Shahid Kapoor) from London who himself is a cricket player in London. After his return and analyzing the situation, he decides to create a new cricket team and organizes an audition for selecting the members.
Veera, a cricket lover, switches her gender to gain a new identity, in order to get into the team. She pastes artificial moustache and beard and transforms into Veer Pratap Singh. Nobody in the village realizes the switch, except the hero when Veera’s colored lens pops out in climax. Great way of finding the switch!!
The script revisits Chak De India as Rohan starts training and coaching the team towards the victory. You will also experience some village tours in Punjab da Dhaba and most famous Sarso ke khet. In the mean time, Rohan starts to develop attraction towards Veera and falls in love with her. Chopras have also managed to make ways for patriotic and cultural lectures and Baisakhi bhangra dance frequently till the script hasn’t approached the final match.
Besides this, there is a speech given by Rani on woman empowerment, giving an emotional touch and creating a lump in throat.
The moves in the flick have been vivaciously choreographed by the famous choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant. Both the actors groove effortlessly and enthusiasm in all the tracks. Rani Mukherjee gave a very lively and impressive performance in the movie. Shahid Kapoor’s presence in the movie was not overshadowed at any point of time, with the presence of Rani. You will enjoy an item number in the movie as performed by the two bollywood sirens Rakhi Sawant and Sherlyn Chopra. The music in this flick has been contributed by Pritam Chakraborty and is refreshing and good.
The first half of the movie is a little slow paced while the second half of the movie may get confusing for many as it deals with many themes. The chemistry between Rani and Shahid was cold.
The performance delivered and the efforts involved by Rani Mukherjee makes the film worth watching. Her role in the movie is flawless and to the great pleasure, there is no melodrama of crying and sobbing.
Overall, if you are planning to spend an entertaining weekend with your family, Dil bole Hadippa is a good option. However for some it might be a bore.
Final Rating: 2.5 ** (Out of 5)
