Don -The Chase Begins Again is the remake of the superhit Bollywood movie of 1970’s which had Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role of Don. In the remake in 2006 we have none other than superstar Shah Rukh Khan taking over the name of ‘Don’. The story deals mostly with drug trade. Shah Rukh Khan manages Singhania’s drug trade between Asia and Europe. The Indian Officer Desilva (Boman Irani) captures Don and unlocks the puzzle behind the drug trafficking using Vijay who has the same image as that of Don. Vijay gets into the gang as Don and informs Desilva of all the advances taking place. The story takes the turn when Desilva is killed and Vijay has to escape from the cartel. Even though the movie is a remake, there are many flaws in the screenplay that could have been taken care of.

Being an unfamiliar remake of the 70s movie, the expectations were of confusion, questions and anxiety about Don songs. Shankar-Ehsan-Loy and Javed Akhtar have together created a wonderful rendition for the remake with enough of beats and jazz and even remixes that travel down the timeline making memories live. The title number ‘Main Hoon Don’ rocked the nation even before the video was released. With all the essence of the 20th century, the song has great lyrics that tell the ‘josh’ of an underworld Don. The remix track of the song is also terrific with good western arrangement and right inclusion of the pop music.
